Hardin-Simmons offers $44,000 scholarship to all incoming Texas freshmen

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Hardin-Simmons University is extending a $44,000 scholarship to all incoming Freshmen who graduated from a public, private, or homeschool high school in Texas.

If the students apply to Hardin-Simmons and are accepted, no other requirements are necessary to receive the Texas Scholarship, which will supply each accepted applicant $11,000 in financial aid a year for 4 years.

However, students are not eligible for the Texas Scholarship if they qualify for an academic scholarship. Those scholarships, detailed on the Hardin-Simmons University website, dole out the same or even higher dollar amounts to qualifying applicants and cannot be used in conjunction with the Texas Scholarship.

Hardin-Simmons told KTAB and KRBC there's still a small chance prospective students could apply to the university and receive the Texas Scholarship beginning in the Fall of 2017, but since the school year is about to begin, it's getting a little late to process new applicants.

Prospective students who apply for the Spring of 2018 semester can also receive the Texas Scholarship, as well as students who apply for any semester in the foreseeable future.

Students who receive the Texas Scholarship must maintain a 2.0 GPA to continue receiving the scholarship throughout their collegiate careers.
