HEART TO HEART: Rose Family has 15-times the blessings

ABILENE, Texas (KRBC) - Adopting a child can be a life-changing step.

An Abilene family did not do it just once, not twice but fifteen times!

If you ask any child about what it's like to have a big family they will tell you this:

"It's very loud," 8-year-old Mary Rose said.

Mary is one of fifteen adoptive kids in the Rose Family.

"At first, when I first walked into the door it was actually scary when I first came here," Mary said.

She became apart of the rose family four years ago and has not looked back.

"Having a big family, which is the best thing," Mary said.

Tom and Elizabeth Rose made the decision 10 years ago to start adopting after having two of their own.

"These kids deserve to have a good family and to have a forever home, some place that they can always come home to once they've moved away," Elizabeth said.

Eight of them have special needs.

"There's never a dull moment. We have a lot of appointments, we have a lot of birthdays and we make a lot of food. We do a lot of laundry," Elizabeth said.

Elizabeth said her kids have become a blessing since the moment they brought them home.

"If they're going to be your foster child, they're up for adoption. Why not make them your forever child? That was what was in our heart," Elizabeth said.

However, 10-year-old Jacob Rose said his mom is the blessing and not him.

"I love her to the moon and back! She took me in from a not good family to a great family. She's done a lot for me," Jacob said.

Elizabeth encourages anyone who is even thinking of adopting to just go for it!

"If it's in your heart, to become, if you're even thinking about it, you need to pray about it because there are so many kids out there who need a good home. There are so many special needs kids and they're harder to place because they have special needs," she said.

Of course, there are some challenges but Beth said she never takes a moment with her kids for granted.

"Mom, I love you. Dad, I love you. That's the most rewarding part.," Elizabeth said.
