Police: Missing Texas infant could have been abducted by woman pretending to be mother

HOUSTON, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A 6-week-old infant who went missing after her mother was found stabbed to death at an apartment in north Houston could be with a woman pretending to be her guardian.

Investigators were unable to locate Shamali Flores at the scene of the stabbing. Her mother's body was found around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, according to KPRC.

KPRC reports "investigators believe the baby may have been taken by a woman who is acting like she is the child's mother."

The Texas Department of Public Safety says Shamali's father was initially a person of interest in the stabbing and suspected abduction, but he was located and "stated he was not involved in the homicide or this child’s disappearance."

Shamali has not been located as of 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, and no additional suspects have been identified.
