How the Big Country can donate to Hurricane Harvey victims

(KTAB/KRBC) - Several organizations and individuals across the Big Country are collecting donations for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. 

HEART and SOUL SALON on 3436 N 1st Street is holding a donation drive all week - 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday. They are collecting clothing and other donations, and a trailer will be available on Thursday to fill with no-perishable food goods and hygiene supplies. 

J. Shea Jewelers on 3246 S 27th Street is also collecting donations to take to the Rockport area. They're looking for "bottled water, cleaning supplies, canned goods, blankets, dog and cat food and anything else you can think of". They say, "if you are able to help out in anyway, bring your donations here to the store and we will make sure they receive them."

Kate Sorrell and her husband are organizing a donation drive in Abilene and Buffalo Gap. In the meantime, information on where to donate can be found on their Facebook page or by calling (801)498-0156. Mrs. Sorrell is hosting a donation drive outside Old Navy in Abilene from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m Friday. They plan to set up drop sites across the area and are looking to collect the following supplies: 

  • Batteries (AA D C)
  • Diapers/ Wipes
  • Toiletry items (male or female)
  • Tooth brushes for adults and kids
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • T-shirts and socks
  • Adult men and women
  • Children of all ages babies to teens
  • Stuffed animals
  • Blankets
  • Paper and ziploc bags
  • Pet food 

The Coleman High School Make A Difference Project is also  collecting items to be sent to the Texas coast to aid in relief from Hurricane Harvey. Information is available by calling principal Diana Dobbins at (325)625-2156.

  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Flashlights
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Duct Tape
  • Trash Bags
  • Bottled Water

Redskins Football Organization will be accepting donations during their practices at Redbud Park (3125 S 32nd Street) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. They'll be set up behind the softball fields. 

Ya Ya Gurlz is accepting a variety of donations at their location at 1315 S. 1st Street from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. They are looking for the following items:

  • Diapers/Formula/Baby Food
  • Non Perishable Food/Snacks
  • Cleaning Supplies: Bleach, Gloves, Brooms, Mops, Soap, Laundry Detergent, Sponges, Rags
  • Blankets/Pillows/Towels
  • Toiletries/Feminine Products
  • First Aid Kits/Insect Repellent/ Fire Ant Treatment/
  • Ponchos/Work Gloves/Tarps/Tools/Extension Cords/Batteries
  • Fans/De-Humidifiers/Clothes Pins/Clothes Line
  • Dry socks, underwear, shorts, t-shirts for first responders. 

Clyde's One Stop at 105 S. 1st Street in Clyde, Texas is collecting donations. They are also asking for help transporting whatever they receive. Contact them on their Facebook page if you're interested in assisting. 

X-Treme N'Tensity Cheer & Tumble at 211 S. 3rd Street in Clyde, Texas, is taking donations for people and animals (no monetary donations). Anyone who needs supplies picked up can contact Tamsey Johnson through their Facebook page.

Kristi Andrew with Caldwell Banker is taking the following supplies at 2500 S Willis Street: water, non-perishable food, hygiene items, diapers, pet food, home items, and more. Text (325)721-2436 for more information. 

Sonic Drive-In in Anson, Texas, is collecting canned goods at their location at 1715 Commercial Avenue.

Abilene Insurance Agency is collecting donations at their location at 3385 N. 3rd Ste 15 until Friday. 

Three Crosses Cowboy Church will have a trailer at the United Supermarket on South 14th Street on Monday, September 4. They will be trying to fill the trailer with donations of rain coats, socks, first aid kits, bug spray, phone chargers and water. They will begin collecting donations at 8 a.m.

The Zone Grill and Bar is hosting a benefit concert at 4638 S. 14th Street on Sunday, September 3rd. Information is as follows: AMP and AAMC Present "HOPE" A Hurricane Harvey Relief Benefit on Sunday September 3rd from 1PM to Midnight. Entrance Fee is Donation of cash, check, clothing, canned goods, toiletries, diapers and pet supplies. SILENT AUCTION For items such as Original Art by artists such as Terri Knight, Twig Capra and Calina Mishay Johnson. RAFFLE. LIVE MUSIC by artists such as Tripp Mathis, Brenda Kay, Roger Rodriguez, Jonathan Hester, Jess Goodlett, Taylor Ochs, Chrissy Phillips, Matt Austin, Dayne Pack, Andrew Holmes, Weathered, Farewell To Fools and many many others. 100% OF ALL DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS ARE BEING DONATED TO All cash and checks will go to the American Red Cross. Please make all checks out to "American Red Cross". Clothing, toiletries, canned goods, blankets, etc will go to The Salvation Army. All pet supplies will go to the SPCA
