Indicted: Abilene man arrested during online child sex sting operation

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene who was arrested due to an undercover child sex crime operation conducted by the Taylor County Sheriff's Office has been indicted.

John Michael Howard, 44, was indicted Online Solicitation of a Minor on Thursday in connection to an incident that happened in July of 2014.

Court documents claim Howard responded to a Craigslist post created by investigators with the Sheriff's Office in June of 2014.

Howard sent an explicit image when he responded to the post and continued to have explicit conversations with the "girl" who created the post even when she revealed she was thirteen, according to the documents.

Howard arranged to meet the "girl" at an Abilene hotel on July 8, 2014. The documents say he was greeted by Sheriff's Office investigators when he arrived at the location.

The documents also state that he admitted he was there to meet a 13-year-old girl.

Howard was taken into custody on site and remained in jail until the charges were rejected in October of 2014.

Howard was arrested for the same July of 2014 incident on Wednesday and released from jail after posting a $20,000 bond.
