Local Artist's Album Debuts at #2 on Country Music Charts

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The newest album from a country music artist who calls the Big Country home topped the charts last week, debuting in the number two spot.

Vaquero, released by Aaron Watson on February 24th, was the number two country music album its first week on the charts, according to Billboard.com,  beating out big names like Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, and Blake Shelton.

Watson is an independent artist who broke records when his album Underdog debuted as number one on the charts in 2015, making him the first independent male country music artist to secure the number one spot.

When Watson isn't recording music, he's likely spending time in the Big Country at his ranch in Taylor County south of Abilene or touring some of his favorite local haunts.

In fact, the album cover for Vaquero was shot in front of a mural in Coleman, Texas, painted by local artist Cal Johnson.
