LULAC is back for their 41st annual softball tournament

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) - The League of United Latin American Citizens is in the middle of their 41st Annual Softball Tournament.

The Abilene Outkast found success on the field. Coach Julian Escamilla says he is proud of his team, saying, "I didn't really do anything. I just coached. These guys did the work. Guys and girls from Midland, Odessa, Amarillo, just came together, played good, had fun, and came out with the first place."

Off the field, there are also successes, as LULAC member Kevin Pantoja points out. "The main benefactors are the scholarship fund. I was one of the scholarship recipients, so it's great for me to go out and be a part of LULAC and see all the community getting together. They've been planning this for months. One big thing that they do is they really want to make this huge for other guys and girls scholarships."

The tournament lasts through Labor Day weekend, the money made will all go to help more students with scholarships.
