Man struck and killed in south Abilene identified

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A man who was struck and killed after getting out of his truck to retrieve fallen items in south Abilene Thursday morning has been identified. 

Earnest Leon Medford was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident on the 6500 block of Buffalo Gap Road just after 9:00 a.m., according to a press release from the Abilene Police Department.

The press release says Medford pulled over and got out of his truck to get items that had fallen out of the back when he was struck by a car, pinning him between two vehicles. 

The driver of the other vehicle and an infant passenger were both transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

No citations have been issued in connection to this crash, but the investigation continues.
