Matthew Struble extradited from Arizona to Abilene for Capital Murder warrant

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Taylor County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the Taylor County Municipal Airport escorting Matthew Struble, 24, after his extradition from Arizona on a Taylor County warrant for Capital Murder.

Struble was arrested in Douglas, Arizona on a Capital Murder warrant issued from Taylor County.

Struble was the fifth suspect arrested in the kidnapping and murder of Ronald "Ronnie" Varner, whose body was found on the side of the road near Hawley, Texas in August of 2016.

The four other suspects, Jody Ordway, 31, Eulla Cooper, 38, Michael Pine, 37, and Olyvia Jackson, 25, were all arrested in early July on charges connected to Varner's death.

Police documents report that Varner called a relative on August 1, 2016 saying he was tied up and beaten, but would be let go. The relative said he never came home and was unable to be located.

Documents say Struble saw Varner tied up, and Cooper, another suspect, said he had to die or everyone would be arrested for kidnapping. Struble also said that Ordway, Cooper and Pine all took part in the kidnapping and beating of Varner.

Struble also admitted to shooting and killing Varner. He said that Jackson also fired a shot, according to documents.

Court documents say "the investigation revealed not only that all five [suspects named in this article] were involved in the kidnapping but also in the murder of Ronald Varner".
