ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - More than 623 grams of narcotics have been seized by Abilene police since February 1.
During a press conference Thursday morning, Police Chief Stan Standridge highlighted his department's hard work, saying "drug abuse remains the number one crime concern for our city."
The illegal narcotic seizures included methamphetamine, marijuana, crack/cocaine, heroin, and pills. 29 individual pills were also seized in addition to the 623 grams.
1/3 of the narcotics were recovered during 33 traffic stops with the assistance of police K9s, leading to 26 arrests. Steven Norman and Breanna Hasher were two of those arrests. Special agents found several ounces of marijuana in their vehicle during a stop on S. 14th Street.
The following 4 search warrants were also executed in Abilene over the past 2 weeks, landing 12 adults and 3 juveniles behind bars for drugs (some are also facing identity theft charges):
- 1834 South 6th Street (Feb 2) - Christian Mosley, Tamaryae Robinson and Midarreyae Lynch arrested - marijuana, THC, promethazine, Alprazolam, and stolen firearms seized.
- 317 N. Crockett Street (Feb 7) - Angelo Garcia, 13-year old juvenile, Jose Renteria Jr., and Kristy Flores-Garcia arrested - methamphetamine, marijuana, stolen firearm, and fraudulent identifying information for 8 potential victims.
- 858 Carver Street (Feb 8) - Elbert Douglas, Wayne Coapland, and Quentin Prince arrested - crack/cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana seized.
- 1718 Westmoreland Street (Feb 12) - Brandy Wright, Angelica Ballestros, Steven Flores, and two 16-year-old juveniles arrested - marijuana, methamphetamine, Alprazolam, Buspirone, and brass knuckles seized.
The suspects listed above are facing a variety of charges, such as possession, manufacturing/delivery, and even identity theft.
