ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The mother of the "armed and dangerous" man who has been on the run since this Wednesday morning pleas for her son to "do the right thing."

It has been more than five hours since Willie Gray fled the scene after he pointed rifle at a police officer. His mother is now desperate to get her son to reach out to her.

"Son, if you are listening to me. I love you and I am here. And I know and I've been trying to get you help. I need you to come to me or call me so I can help you. I know you are scared. I know you are."

According to Police Chief Stan Standridge, an officer first approached Gray after a citizen reported seeing Gray walking around the 1400 block of Lillius Street armed with an assault rifle.

When Gray was confronted by police, he pointed the rifle at the officer then loaded his weapon, prompting the officer to seek cover. Gray then fled the scene.
