North Texas couple found dead in New Mexico died from murder-suicide: Police

New Mexico (KTAB/KRBC) - A North Texas couple was found deceased in a pickup on a New Mexico interstate.

According to NBCDFW, authorities in New Mexico are saying the incident was a murder-suicide.

Police identified the couple as 32-year-old Ursula Tammy Kokotkiewicz , a North Dallas high school teacher, and her husband, 31-year-old Jacob Kokotkiewicz. Both were from Flower Mound, Texas.

According to NBCDFW, a statement from police did not say which victim shot the other, but a handgun was found between the husband's legs.

The statement also said that investigators do not believe anyone else was involved. Electronic devices recovered from inside the vehicle will be checked to try and determine a motive.

The couple was discovered after authorities stopped to check on the welfare of the occupants. NBCDFW reports that the vehicle was parked on the eastbound shoulder with the engine running.
