ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A pedestrian was struck by a train in central Abilene early Tuesday morning.
Abilene police responded to a call of the accident on the 4200 block of N. 1st Street around 1:15 a.m.
When officers arrived on scene, the conductor of the train confirmed he had struck a pedestrian, but the pedestrian was nowhere to be found.
After searching near the site of the crash, officers located the pedestrian, who may be homeless, under a tree in pain and in obvious need of medical attention.
He was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
Union Pacific will be conducting an investigation into this incident.
