Police: Argument Led to Shooting in Abilene Church Parking Lot

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Police say an argument in a church parking lot led to a shooting in south Abilene Thursday night.

The Abilene Police Department told KTAB and KRBC 9-1-1 dispatchers received several calls from witnesses near the parking lot at the S. 5th Street and Sunset Street around 7:30 p.m.

The callers reported they heard an argument followed by multiple gunshots then saw several people running into the street while yelling and screaming, according to police.

When officers arrived on scene, they learned the victim, an eighteen-year-old male, had already been transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.

APD says the victim told police he doesn't know the suspect who shot him, but admitted they were in an argument moments before the shooting.

The victim's current condition is not known at this time, but police believe his injuries are not life threatening.
