Driver of fatal Abilene hit-and-run located, charges pending investigation

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Police have located the driver who struck and killed an Abilene woman then fled the scene overnight.

A tweet from the Abilene Police Department says the driver has been identified but is not under arrest because charges are pending the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to the tweet. 

A press release says Robbin Caldwell, 55, of Abilene, was walking along the 600 block of E. Stamford Street when she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling east just after midnight on Friday. The vehicle involved left the scene without notifying emergency services and Caldwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
