Potosi United Methodist Church Dedicates New Building After Fire

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Potosi United Methodist Church burned down in September 2015, but a new building has been built in its place.

The new building has been in use for several months, but Sunday was chosen as the official dedication of this new structure. Pastor Charles Dunnam says that the congregation is "grateful for the opportunity to be here."

Reverend George Price led the sermon, concentrating on the church being only a building, and the members of a congregation are the important part. Price says, "It is the people that were able to carry on, even though the building was destroyed."

Pastor Dunnam's granddaughter, Victoria Dunnam, is also thankful for the congregation, and the years of memories that they share, reflecting happily on how they are a second family, "It's like having twenty sets of grandparents", she says.

The new building's dedication was celebrated with an open house following the service.
