'Red Dirt Pavilion' event to benefit fallen Abilene officer, two injured detectives

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A benefit is taking place next week to support the family of a fallen Abilene police officer as well as two other detectives injured in a crash on August 6, 2017.

TxFreedom Offroad, Kirk House, and Abilene Texas TC are hosting the benefit at the Red Dirt Pavilion at 1302 Pecan Street in Buffalo Gap, Texas, on Friday, August 25, 2017. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. 

The event will feature live music, food trucks, multiple raffles, and silent auctions, with 100% of the proceeds going to an account established by the Abilene Police Officers Association to benefit the Ybarra family as well as Detective Robert Collins and Detective Chris Milliorn. 

Winners must be present to collect prizes from the raffles and silent auctions. Cash, check, and PayPal donations will also be accepted during the event. 

Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs because the event is outside! 

Det. Ybarra was killed in a crash involving two other Abilene police detectives on August 6, 2017.

The trio was headed to a Crimes Against Children conference in Dallas when their vehicle, driven by Detective Ybarra, was struck by a pickup on Interstate 20 in Clyde.

Det. Ybarra was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The two other detectives, Detective Chris Milliron and Detective Robert Collins, were transported to the hospital and are expected to survive their injuries.
