Charges dropped against Abilene man accused of sexually assaulting woman at party

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Charges have been dropped against an Abilene man accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was intoxicated at a party.

A Grand Jury decided to no bill Deng Majok, 20, originally charged with Sexual Assault.

Majok, a former Abilene Christian University football player, was suspended from his spot on the team when the allegations and subsequent arrest first came to light in May of 2017.

ACU student newspaper The Optimist reports Majok has not been reinstated with the team and his status will be reevaluated at the end of this season.

Majok told KTAB and KRBC he was 'horribly defamed' by the allegations and is now working to clear his name now that the charges have been dropped.

ACU Athletic Department spokesperson Lane Fleming released the following statement after learning of Majok's criminal charges:

Today we learned that Abilene Christian University student, Deng Majok, has been arrested in an off-campus incident. It is our understanding that no other ACU students were involved in this case. Majok, a walk-on student-athlete in the ACU football program, has been suspended from all team-related activities pending the outcomes of both the judicial and university conduct system. We take these situations seriously and are dedicated to building athletic teams that positively reinforce our mission.
