Report: Clyde man beat Abilene man with bat, robbed him over drugs

CLYDE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A Clyde man accused of beating an Abilene man with a bat then robbing him over drugs has been arrested. 

Aaron Johnson, 23, was taken into custody Monday and charged with Aggravated Robbery in connection to the crime that happened in January of 2017. 

Court documents state Johnson went to the victim's home in Abilene to ask about drugs, and when he learned the victim didn't have any, he became upset and was asked to leave.

At this point, the documents state Johnson picked up a bat and began swinging it at the victim, saying "that he was a killer". 

The victim was struck by the bat in the arm and the ribs during the altercation, causing multiple broken bones, according to the documents, which sate Johnson entered the victim's bedroom and took $2,200 in cash before fleeing the scene. 

The report also states the victim tried to follow Johnson, but Johnson said he had a gun. 

Johnson was released from jail the same day as his arrest after posting a $50,000 bond.
