Retired Master Sergeant Receives Silver Star Medal During Dyess AFB Ceremony

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A retired Air Force Master Sergeant received a Silver Star medal during a ceremony at Dyess Air Force Base Friday morning.

Retired Master Sergeant Kristopher Parker received the medal due to his heroic efforts during an Afghanistan tour in May of 2014.

Master Sergeant Parker was able to coordinate a plan that allow his commander and the rest of his squad to escape from danger in enemy territory.

The ceremony took place on base at 10:00 a.m.

Parker was originally awarded a Bronze Star for his efforts, but The Secretary of Defense recently decided he deserved a higher honor, so his medal was upgraded to a Silver Star.
