South Branch Library Celebrates 1st Birthday

A move away from the old location on 14th St. and Danville Dr. was a great idea. There new location at the Mall of Abilene gives hope for new and returning visitors at the library. As they get ready to celebrate their one year anniversary at the new location, Librarian Branch Manager Alyssa Crow say's, "since the children's play area is just outside the library, when the weather isn't good outside they come into the library to play and do library things".

There's books, computers, magazines and areas to relax at this new library location. However, Marcus Norman uses it for another reason. "I use it to come and email my family, since I'm not from here and I don't have a computer where I'm currently staying at". So, whatever the reason may be for the visit at the new library's location it sure has paid off. Alyssa states, "After doing all of the math there's has been over 270,000 visits to the South Branch location. With the increased traffic the new location is bringing it is more than likely to get a little hectic at times, and they seem to have been handling it quite well.

They will be celebrating their First Anniversary at the new location at the Mall of Abilene, on November 19th, from 1pm-6pm with games, refreshments, prizes, storytime and a special movie showing.
