Stolen golf cart returned to Abilene man with special needs

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A golf cart stolen from an Abilene man with special needs has been returned.

Tuesday morning, someone called the family of  Cody Jones, a 25-year-old man diagnosed with autism, and said the golf cart was at an abandoned house the north side of town.

When family members went to retrieve the cart, they noticed clothes, food, and other items that suggest someone was living in the home.

The golf cart was recovered in good condition and the charger was with it, according to family members.

Cody's golf cart, which he uses to play on a Special Olympics Golf Team with his father, was first reported missing on Sunday.

A post about the stolen cart then garnered attention from social media users across the country.

It's unknown if there will be any arrests made in connection to Cody's stolen cart.
