Student in custody after terroristic threat at Hawley ISD

HAWLEY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A student is in custody after a terroristic threat was made against Hawley ISD. 

Superintendent Jimmy Burns told KTAB and KRBC the district was made aware of threat around 9:00 p.m. Thursday, and the student responsible was taken into custody by law enforcement off-campus Friday morning. 

The details of the threat have not been made public due to the ongoing investigation 

Parents have expressed concerns because they were not notified of the threat. Superintendent Burns says he decided not to issue a notification because the student is in custody and classes are expected to resume as scheduled. 

Police units were stationed at the school as students arrived as an extra safety precaution.
