ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The suspect accused of firing a gun after pointing it at his wife and children at an apartment complex near Abilene High School Tuesday night has been identified.

Ellis Clark, 36, was taken into custody after the incident just after 8:30 p.m. and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Discharge of a Weapon in Certain Municipalities, Resisting Arrest, and Failure to ID. He remains jailed on bonds totaling over $46,000.

Clark was initially contacted at the Rivera Apartments on N. 6th Street and Mockingbird Lane after police received reports of shots fired in the area.

The arrest report states Clark was belligerent when officers arrived and began shouting at the officer on scene before placing his hands on the officer and instigating a struggle in an attempt to resist arrest.

An initial investigation revealed Clark was sitting in a vehicle with his wife and children when he pointed a gun at them and fired a shot in an unknown direction, according to the report, which states Clark also initially gave a false name when asked to identify himself.
