Suspect Hospitalized After Officer Involved Shooting in Big Spring

BIG SPRING, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - Law enforcement covering a large stretch of land after a shooting involving a suspect, a DPS and a Big Spring Police Department Officer. "They're proceeding with caution. Public safety is our main interest and resolving the situation as quickly as possible," says Sgt. Justin Baker with DPS.

Officers responding to a call of a suspect presenting a weapon. A high speed chase took the two officers to 10th and Owens where a shootout ensued. This right outside of Big Spring High School which wasn't in session. "We are very grateful right now that school wasn't involved and that every bodies safe," says Baker.

The officers are okay and were not shot. The suspect was transported to a Lubbock hospital and the condition is currently unknown. "Multiple weapons possessed by the suspect involved but we cannot confirm that right now which weapons exactly," says Baker.
