Suspect Steals Hearse in Central Texas, Dumps Body on Side of Road

BRYAN, Texas (KWKT/KYLE) - Bryan police are investigating a very bizarre theft that occurred early Friday morning that resulted in a body being left unattended.

About 5:30 a.m. officers responded to the McDonalds on Highway 21 in Bryan to take a stolen vehicle report.

A funeral home employee reported they had temporarily left the vehicle unattended at a business on Highway 21 when an unknown person jumped into the vehicle and drove away.

The hearse did have a deceased person inside that was being transported by the funeral home.

About 7:00 a.m. a passerby spotted a gurney with the body left in the 6000 block of Dick Elliott Road.

The body was recovered and returned to the funeral home but the hearse was not recovered.
