Suspected drunk driver arrested for Abilene 2015 wreck that almost killed 2-year-old

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene woman has been arrested for allegedly causing a crash that almost killed her 2-year-old son while she was driving with a blood-alcohol level nearly 3-times the legal limit in 2015.

Letrisha Hernandez, 24, was arrested Wednesday for Intoxicated Assault and Driving While Intoxicated with a Child.

Court documents state Hernandez's son sustained serious bodily injury when he was ejected from her vehicle during a crash on the 4000 block of Catclaw Drive on June 21, 2015.

The boy hit his head upon impact, and the doctor who evaluated him said the injury caused a "serious risk of death," according to the documents.

Blood was taken from Hernandez following the crash and the documents state test results reveal her blood-alcohol level was 0.214.

Online court records show Hernandez has a trial date set for January 22, 2018.
