Taylor County Commissioner Gets Probation for Public Lewdness

TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A Taylor County Commissioner accused of having unwanted sexual contact with a woman at a fundraiser in February has pleaded guilty and been given probation in connection to the allegations.

Brad Birchum, Commissioner for Precinct 3, pleaded guilty to Public Lewdness on Thursday and was sentenced to 2 years of deferred adjudication (probation).

Court documents claim Birchum made "unwanted sexual advances" toward a woman then groped her breast in public place at the Fire and Ice Benefit in Buffalo Gap, Texas, on February 13, 2017.

The documents further argue that Birchum was "reckless about whether another was present who would be offended or alarmed by his act".

Judge Downing Bolls' office declined to comment on how Birchum's guilty plea affects his status as a Taylor County commissioner.
