Temporary TSA Precheck Application Center to Open at Abilene Regional Airport

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Abilene Regional Airport will be hosting a temporary TSA Precheck program application center from June 12-June 16.

During the week of June 12, a temporary TSA Precheck application center will be set up in the lower lever airport conference room.  This area is open to the public and does not require an airline ticket to access. The center will be open from 8 a.m.-noon, and then from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Enrollment in the TSA Precheck program gives travelers permission to keep on their shoes, belt and light outerwear jackets as well as leave their laptops and their liquid  3-1-1 bags inside their carry-ons as they move through the checkpoint.

“This temporary application center will give Abilene-area travelers the opportunity to enroll in TSA’s popular expedited screening program,” said Amy Williams, TSA federal security director. “Travelers can make an appointment online at www.tsa.gov, and then must complete their enrollment in-person at the application center.”

An $85 application fee covers a 5-year membership.  Fees must be paid at the application center by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier's check.  Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Fingerprints are collected to complete a background check and enrollees will need to bring documentation proving their identity and citizenship or legal residency status.

Successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) that can be accessed online in about a week.
