Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Arrested in Louisiana

AUSTIN, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A Texas 10 Most Wanted sex offender has been arrested Tuesday in Louisiana.

According to a press release, Johnny June Mason, 48, is in custody after being captured in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He was wanted for parole violation and failure to register as a sex offender.

The suspect was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force with help from a multi-agency task effort including Texas Department of Public Safety Special Agents and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Houston.

In 1990, mason was convicted of Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Crime Against Nature involving a 16-year-old-girl and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Mason has a history of parole violation and failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Mason's last known address was in Harris County, TX and has been a fugitive since June of 2016.

So far this year, Texas DPS, along with help from other agencies, have captured nine out of ten Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders including four sex offenders and five gang members.
