Texas elementary school aide fired for pictures taken of students in restroom

KILLEEN, Texas (KWKT/KYLE) - A Killeen Independent School District spokesman has confirmed that an instructional aide has been fired after pictures were taken of students in a restroom at Timber Ridge Elementary School.

The aide says she took the pictures to show students misbehaving.

School officials learned of the incident that occurred last week on Friday, looked into the issue and terminated the aid Tuesday morning.

The action was taken before school and the aid was not on campus at all Tuesday.

A statement sent to parents said the aid told officials she had stepped into the restroom and took the pictures to show a teacher that a student was not following instructions.

The statement said that all of the children in the restroom were fully clothed when the pictures were taken.

The statement further said that regardless of the reason," taking photographs in a student restroom is highly inappropriate and not teh type of action the district will tolerate."

Timber Ridge Principal Tanya Dockery contacted parents with a telephone message alerting them to the incident and telling them the aide was dismissed.
