Texas man allegedly seen in viral video of beating a pit bull has been arrested

TEXARKANA, Texas (KETK) - Texarkana Police have arrested the man, they believe is connected to the vicious abuse of a pit bull puppy.

A warrant for LeGus Holloway, 69, was issued on Monday after a video surfaced online last weekend that showed him viciously abusing a pit bull puppy outside of a Texarkana residence.

The video went viral and garnered attention from across the nation and around the world. The puppy's owner (which is not Holloway) took it to a local veterinary clinic for treatment on Sunday evening, where it was determined that it had suffered a broken leg.

This weekend a woman walked into the Bi-State Criminal Justice building and told officers than Holloway was waiting in her car in front of the building.

She said that she had seen him walking in the Leary community, which is located west of Texarkana, and offered him a ride.

She then convinced him that she needed to go by the jail to put money on an inmate's account before she could take him to his destination. However, she went inside and called for our officers instead.

Holloway was found sitting in her vehicle waiting on her to come back out.

He was arrested without incident and escorted up to the Bi-State Jail. Holloway is charged with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals, which is a felony. Bond has not yet been set in this case.

The dog is expected to make a full recovery. Judge Sherry Jackson issued an order on Tuesday seizing the dog pending the outcome of a court hearing on November 28.
