Texas Teen Kills Twin While Trying to Shoot Snake

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A Texas teen has passed away after he was accidentally shot by his twin who was attempting to shoot a snake on Tuesday. 

The 14-year-old teen, who has not been publicly identified due to his age, was pronounced deceased at the hospital hours after the shooting that happened on CR 2342 in Liberty County, Texas, around 3:45 p.m., according to a press release from the Liberty County Sheriff's Office.

The press release says the boys saw a snake in a drainage ditch in the area, went home and returned with two rifles, then "just as one of the brothers aimed at the snake, the victim suddenly knelt down in between the snake and his brother and was shot approximately ½” above the right ear."

The incident is being investigated as an accidental shooting and no arrests have been made.
