The 2017 Abilene Home Builders Association's Parade of Homes Opens in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Parade of Homes has opened in Abilene for two weekends in June.

Starting this weekend, June 10-11, and continuing next weekend, June 17-18, the Parade of Homes features 11 new homes built in subdivisions in and around Abilene.

The Big Country Home Builders Association presents the Parade of Homes each year, and this year will feature 11 new homes built by 11 home builders in 9 subdivisions in and around Abilene.

According to the National Association of Home Builders Local Economic Impact of Home Building Model, building 100 new single family homes in a typical U.S. Metropolitan area generates $16 million in local income, $1.8 million in taxes and other revenue for local governments and 284 local jobs in a year. This includes direct effects of construction activity and also ripple effects from income earned from construction being spent and recycled into the local economy.

Wristbands can be purchased for $5 in advance, or $10 at the door. Children under 12 years are admitted free, no wristband required. To purchase advance wristbands, visit the Home Builders Association office at 4398 Crawford Drive in Abilene. wristbands are good for both weekends of the Parade of Homes.
