Three Homes Saved from Callahan County Wildfire

CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Fire fighters were able to save three homes from a wildfire that burned several acres in Callahan County Tuesday afternoon.

The fire began on Highway 36 just west of the interchange with Highway 283 around noon.

A representative with the Texas A&M Forrest Service told KTAB and KRBC the fire quickly spread west across a dry field, threatening several structures.

This representative says fire fighters were able to contain the flames before they reached three homes in the area, but a storage building and a garage were destroyed.

The fire was officially tapped out around 2:00 p.m. The cause has not been determined.

Members of the Eula, Cross Plains, Potosi, Clyde, Lake Coleman, and Baird Volunteer Fire Departments all assisted in battling the blaze.
