Two arrested in connection to overnight downtown shooting

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Abilene Police Department held a press conference Saturday afternoon to address an overnight shooting at the Civic Plaza hotel in downtown Abilene.

According to Sergeant Lynn Beard, who oversaw the conference, multiple reports of shots fired were received around 12:30-1 a.m. early Saturday morning.

An officer on patrol nearby responded immediately to the reports at the Civic Plaza Hotel in downtown Abilene. After arriving, the officer began to search for any injured persons and observed a maroon Chevy Impala driving away from the scene, traveling the wrong direction on a one-way street.

After initiating a traffic stop, two men were arrested. 21-year-old David Jordan and Jaucorian Davis were taken into custody and a .380 caliber firearm was recovered. The firearm was matched to one reported stolen from a south Abilene car robbery.

Initial reports indicate that during a large party at the hotel, money was stolen which led to an altercation. During this altercation the shots were fired.

One person was struck in the leg and taken to Hendrick Medical Center where they were treated and released.

Officers say one subject involved in the shooting is still at large.
