Two Drivers Killed in Monday Morning Wrecks Identified

SWEETWATER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Two drivers killed in separate wrecks across the Big Country Monday morning have been identified.

The first driver, Jonah Wayne Neal, 32, of Montgomery, Texas, lost his life in a wreck on Highway 36 south of Baird in Callahan County just after 12:30 a.m., according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The DPS report says Neal was driving a freight liner towing a trailer down the highway when another freight liner hydroplaned next to him then jackknifed, killing Neal upon impact.

Adam Dan Almanza, 26, of Sweetwater, was killed later that morning just south of Roby on SH 70 in Fisher County, according to another DPS report.

That report says the tire on Almanza's truck lost its tread, causing him to lose control, skid, then rollover.

He was pronounced dead at the scene around 7:00 a.m.

Both Neal and Almanza were wearing seatbelts when the fatal crashes occurred, according to DPS.
