Shots fired inside Lubbock mall New Year's Eve

LUBBOCK, Texas (KLBK/KAMC) - A police report provided a few new details Monday about a shooting incident at the South Plains Mall New Year's Eve.

The police report said shots were fired at 5:57 pm.

A police officer wrote in a police report, “I was advised [the suspect] shot approximately three rounds from a handgun at [victim 1] and [victim 2], inside the South Plains Mall, placing both victims in fear of imminent bodily injury.”

Victim 1 was described as a man in the police report.  Victim 2 was a woman.

“[Victim 1] and [victim 2] advised they were not injured by [the suspect],” the police report said.

“The incident stemmed from an altercation between a group of people that began inside the store Footaction,” a press release on Sunday night said.  “It appears the fight then spilled out into the mall, when a suspect pulled out a gun and began firing the weapon.”

Police also said, “This appears to be an isolated incident.”
