Wanted: 'Drill instructor' accused of sexually assaulting child at Abilene boot camp

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Abilene police are searching for a 'drill instructor' accused of sexually assaulting a child at boot camp in 2013.

Emory Phillips, 30, is wanted for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Injury to a Child. He was featured as one of 'Abilene's Wanted Criminals' on October 25, 2017.

Court documents state police began investigating Phillips in July after an adult came forward and stated a child victim made an outcry that she was sexually assaulted in Abilene in October of 2013.

During a subsequent forensic interview, the documents state this child told police that when she was 8 or 9, "she was sexually assaulted by a 'drill instructor' through a behavior boot camp she was participating in."

This child says the suspect, later identified as Phillips, cornered her in her room, made her undress, and touched her inappropriately, according to the documents.

The victim couldn't remember the suspect's name, but police were able to identify Phillips during the investigation.

Anyone who has information on Phillips' whereabouts is asked to call Abilene CrimeStoppers at (325)676-8477. A $250 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.
