Welding causes grass fire in rural Callahan County

CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Firefighters responded to a grass fire in Callahan County on County Road 484.

The fire was called in early Thursday afternoon.

According to the Callahan County Sheriff's Office, the fire was caused by welding. Approximately 100 acres burned. 

Due to the high risk of grass fires with windy and dry conditions, the Texas A&M Forrest Service has tankers at the Abilene Airport ready to respond to grass fires in the area.
