Winter weather forecast for parts of the Big Country this week

(KTAB/KRBC) - Winter weather could be moving into parts of the Big Country this week, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.

The NWS is forecasting a wintry mix of rain, snow, and sleet could begin falling sometime Wednesday afternoon and continue through the night, following rain that's set to start Wednesday morning.

Slick bridges and roads are possible during this time, though the NWS doesn't expect any significant accumulations.

The forecast is still preliminary, but early models show the wintry mix impacting Nolan, Taylor, Coke and Runnels Counties. Coleman and Brown Counties could experience cold rain.

NWS meteorologists will continue to track this system to monitor any developments between now and Wednesday.
