Young man killed, teen passenger critically injured in Comanche County crash

COMANCHE COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A young man was killed and another is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in Comanche County Tuesday afternoon.

Jonathan Alejandro Escamilla, 20, of Dublin, Texas, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash on U.S. 36 east of Gustine around 4:30 p.m., according to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. His 17-year-old passenger is at a Ft. Worth hospital recovering from a critical injury. 

The press release states Escamilla was stopped at the intersection of FM 1702 and U.S. 36 when he was struck by an 18-wheeler traveling east down the highway. Both vehicles went into a nearby drainage ditch upon impact. 

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. BigCountryHomepage will update this article if additional information is released.
