Police were initially called out to a burglary of habitation in progress on Briarwood Street at around 2 p.m. By the time police arrived, the suspects were gone. Police began to ask neighbors if they had seen the men according to the descriptions obtained.
An officer contacted a man who happened to be the suspect and realized he had a gun on his waistband. The suspect ran from police and the chase ensued. During the chase, the suspect pointed the gun at the officer.
"She pushed him back and drew her weapon on the suspect," says Lt. Craig Jordan. "He went over the fence and the foot chase continued and ended in the front yard."
Police had to search for the gun for nearly an hour. The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was taken to the Taylor County Jail and is being charged with aggravated assault and evading arrest.
