The city sprayed for mosquitoes yesterday, but how effective is it to spray your own personal yard?

A local pet control expert says, although spraying is always a good idea, the effect of the chemicals are very short term. Mosquitoes are rapid flying creatures, and unless they are directly touched by the chemicals, they will not be affected. He advices people to remember to treat any standing water and maintain grass neatly trimmed.

According to Abilene Dermatology, mosquitoes are attracted to a certain type of person: people who produce high levels of acid, who have high concentrations of cholesterol on their skin and people who emit large quantities of carbon dioxide.
