"Not like this, since I've been here in Anson," he said.
A woman, who lived in a corner apartment, was found along with her small dog; both had been shot dead. Police then found the body of the relative a few doors down. "She was found with a self inflicted gunshot wound," he said.
Neighbors, Christina Pilson and Leila Rodriguez, say they are still shaken by what has happened.
"They've been here a year, both of them," said Pilson, describing the two women who lived in their apartment complex.
"It became apparent that [the first body found] was not a natural death; it appeared to be a murder. The victim had succumb a gunshot wound," said Chief Moore.
Police would not disclose where the woman had been shot, but estimate she had been dead since late Monday or early Tuesday.
"While questioning neighbors and other witnesses in the area, Anson PD discovered that a relative of the victim had not been seen for several hours and had lived in a nearby apartment. [She] lived down the same side of the apartments," he said.
Right now they are not disclosing the names of the two women, but neighbors tell us the murder victim was the older of the two, and said she was in her early to mid 60's.
"She was in a nursing home and then she got out of the nursing home and went to one of these apartments here," said Pilson. "Her cousin came by and stayed with her and she got an apartment here also."
They also said both the women seemed fine in the weeks past. They were avid animal lovers and often went to the rodeo.
The bodies of the women were sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners office for autopsy.
