Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of heart rhythm disorder, and it appears to affect Caucasian adults the most.

Researchers at the University of California San Francisco looked at the records of 14 million emergency room visits.

They found African-Americans had a 16 percent lower risk for atrial fibrillation compared to white adults.

Hispanics had a 22 percent lower risk.

The researchers have not found the cause behind this disparity.
