The cold and dreary Saturday didn't stop the Lake Brownwod State Park from holding a grand opening 5K run for its new trail.

Runners were able to get a feel for the new mountain trail that took couple of weeks for volunteers to complete. The Nopales Ridge Trail only had two miles before, but now, there is an additional three miles.

The mountain bike trail is designed for beginners but includes a difficult rock formation to add as a technical challenge. The park hopes the new trail will attract more people.

There were around 40 runners who participated in the race. Afterwards, medals were handed out for best time in each age category.
