The start of the New Year brings a number of changes including revisions to the Texas gun laws.

One of the revisions states that you no longer need a social security card to obtain a concealed handgun license, or to purchase a handgun.

The owner of the Abilene Indoor Gun Range, James Hill says that DPS previously required people to uses their social security number, but no longer does.

He also doesn't believe that particular revision will encourage people to obtain a CHL because there are other ways of doing a background check on a person.

Another revisions states that the training time required to obtain a CHL has gone down from 10-15 hours down to only 6 hours.

Hill does not agree with this revision because he believe having the knowledge of the laws of a handgun are crucial if you want to own one.

He feels that it is also important to keep up with all of the new laws as well.
