It has been one year since Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn's remains were found near Lake J.B. Thomas and many are still searching for answers.

One Texas woman started a petition to send to the Scurry County Sheriff on the anniversary of her remains being discovered. The petition asks if there is enough evidence to convene a grand jury, and if there is not, to release Hailey's remains to her parents. The petition, which was posted on, garnered 700 signatures in just a few short hours.

Hailey's former teachers explain that while they hate what happened to Hailey, they must keep moving forward. Andra Maxwell, who taught Hailey 8th grade history up until her disappearance, says "Tragedy has struck so many people. We are not unique to that situation, so we just have to do like everybody else and keep ourselves picked up by the boot straps and move on and celebrate the positive things."

The FBI told KRBC that this case is ongoing and that it is a joint investigation.
