The majority of Big Country students are enjoying the last little bit of summer before the new school year begins, but for students in Roscoe, that day has already arrived.

Classes began yesterday after the ISD was granted an early waiver allowing them to start two weeks before most school years.

Roscoe Collegiate ISD says the early need was necessary to help high school students get a leg up on their college classes.

Their Early College High School and STEM Academy programs within the high school, are one of forty schools in Texas that participates in college level training.

The students there take actual college classes in high school. By the time they graduate, they leave with an Associate's Degree.
